Christmas Eve

My favorite day of the year is Christmas Eve. We always go to church. Come home have a nice meal. Open a couple presents, stay up late and then.... the anticipation for the next day.... It is wonderful!
This year, we went to church, came home, had a big meal, had Jerome & Chris & his girlfriend Angie over. Then, opened a few presents. BUT, after everyone left and it was time for bed. The toilets began their gurgle song. Bloop, bloop, bloop. By midnight, everything was backing into the house. We cleaned up one mess just to have another mess show up. Whew. I gave up about 2am. (You have to be asleep when Santa comes) Gary mopped up until about 3am. Then, he got up about 7am. We got up about 9, opened presents, then Gary's son Mike and girlfriend Wren came over. We had pancakes after they left. (Is that breakfast or lunch?) I crashed about 4pm and the plumber came at 4:30pm. $300.00 dollars later. Roto rooter cleared the holly roots out of the pipe and crisis over. I'm just glad we were up so late. How far does stuff flow if no one hears it?

Suitcases

All of us have baggage. Most of it can be attributed to trails and tribulations, but sometimes our baggage isn't just emotional. I have 3 children from another marriage. Now that's baggage I will not consider a burden. It is a blessing. More to the point. Everything in our lives can be considered baggage. Even the emotional weight we carry around from our childhood. Good bad or neutral. BUT, (the good news) It is our baggage that makes us who we are and builds our character. Without those suitcases, we would have empty lives.
I've decided to deal with my baggage. Instead of regretting the past, count those stumbling blocks as stepping stones in climbing up for the view that we want to see.
I'm a Christian, so that doesn't mean I should toss my baggage aside. I prefer to think of my bags as "on wheels". That way, I can pull it along with me, but it loses some of the "burdeness" of it.
So, here's to luggage on Wheels! Praise the Lord!
